Current R&D/S&T Activities
Food safety & quality assessment
Consumption of food containing adulterants and contaminants cause several diseases. To empower the consumer and regulatory agencies, our aim is to develop methods and sensors for detection of adulterants and contaminants in food commodities.
Functionality and mechanism of molecular chaperones & metal induced toxicity
Protein misfolding and aggregation under stressful environmental conditions may lead to neurological disorders like Parkinson’s disease (PD), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Amyloid lateral sclerosis and Huntington disease (HD). Molecular chaperones play a major role in preventing protein misfolding by mediating proper native folding, unfolding and refolding of the polypeptides along-with vast number of other cellular functions. We use various biochemical and biophysical approaches to decipher the mechanism of molecular chaperones and metal induced toxicity.
