Areas of Specialization
Nanomaterial Toxicology, Genetic Toxicology
Current R&D/S&T Activities

With the inclusion of nanomaterials to improve the quality and performance of widely used products, potentially in medicine, it is likely that occupational and public exposure to nanomaterials would increase in the near future. Our group is involved in assessing the toxicity of nanomaterials (in particular Carbon based nanomaterials) in a battery of toxicity tests starting from characterization of nanomaterials to their fate in the organism and the environment. My recent research work involves mechanism of nanomaterial toxicity in in vitro and in vivo models using different cytogenetic techniques as well as cell cycle and apoptosis. The work is also being done towards ecotoxicological studies of the nanomaterials.

Apart from Nanomaterial toxicology our group is also involved in development, validation and establishment of biomarkers of DNA damage, which could be used for studying exposure and effect in human population.
